And so The Summer That Never Was draws to a close*

September 7, 2010 by ChiaLynn

It was drizzling this morning when I went to the gym.

Well, misting really. I don’t think I’d even call it drizzle if I didn’t live in LA.

But it was so cold this afternoon that I had to put on a sweater. And close all the windows.

And whine about it on Twitter.

I’ve got tomatoes I’m not sure will ever be ripe, and peppers that may never progress beyond blossoms.

At the same time, though, I do love the foggy mornings, and that thick marine layer out over the beach.

*And I suspect it may still warm up later this month and into October – so instead of no summer at all, it may only be a late summer we’re looking for.

**Also, I’m well aware that my friends further inland have suffered this summer, but the heat waves never made it this far west. I don’t really mind – but I was hoping for a few more red tomatoes.

  1. We’re only like a few miles farther inland and it’s been hot. BUT SAD TOMATOES. :(

  2. ChiaLynn says:

Fortunately, the tomatoes are tasty when they’re green, too. I might even try pickling some of them.

There’s also a good chance that once it cools down over your way, it’ll warm up over here.
