We got a lot of books here

I just took four and half bags of books to the thrift store (along with a bunch of clothes, toys, dumbbells, old luggage and other stuff). Sadly, I still can’t get all of my fiction onto the (very tall) bookshelf in my bedroom without double-stacking the shelves. (I’d say our fiction, but the great majority of it’s mine.)

Skinny Legs and All took us to Burning Man and back, then lay neglected, if not forsaken, on the headboard (like a paperback shell in a dusty cave). Somewhere between Temple City and Nevada Landing, though, the Fifth Veil has fallen. Vegas lights the sky with empty promises; the sodium glow of the streetlamps is the gilt on this Temple. Sometime before dawn, the Seventh Veil will float to the floor on the other side of the Utah border, and we’ll be more than halfway home.

At 12:09 AM, I set my book* down and said, “I forgot to blog.”

“Is it going to bother you?” NovySan asked.

I said, “I’m not sure.”

I debated going to get my laptop; wondered how dishonest it would be to backdate a post by less than 15 minutes; started to compose said post in my head; and then, I gave it up and went to sleep.

*I’m reading Sins of the 7th Sister,which is supposed to be based on a true story (the author’s own story, in fact), but probably isn’t.
